Powering Progress,
Energizing Tomorrow!

The IESO is conducting a sequence of acquisition processes aimed at obtaining 1,500 MW of additional natural gas capacity. This includes a Long-Term (LT1) Request For Proposal (RFP), which is focused on sourcing resources that will be operational between 2026 and 2028. The purpose of these acquisitions is to meet the energy requirements of both the province and the region. Responding to this initiative, Northland intends to submit a proposal for a new 198 MW peaking plant located in Thorold as part of the IESO’s LT1 RFP. This plant has the capacity to provide power to more than 100,000 households during peak demand periods.
